Hey guys! So I know it’s been awhile since I’ve wrote a blog and updated everyone but I’ve been pretty busy lately. I’m currently writing a sitcom for the New York Television Festival (NYTF) with my co-writer Jordan Wapner to submit to FOX. The name of the sitcom is called DC to LA. Unfortunately, at this time I cannot give out anymore information on it but just know that we are working hard and creating some really funny material. Hopefully you all will be watching this show in 2014! We are both moving out to LA in October and pilot season is just right round the corner in January so it’s perfect timing! You can stay up to date with our current projects by following us on twitter at @GaryDunkel and @nadrojWapner
I went to the Improv Comedy Club at the Hard Rock hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida tonight to see comedian Bobby Lee. I love going to the Improv pretty often and its become one of my favorite places to go to for good entertainment. I have seen so many different comedians there and other clubs and 95% of them are pretty hilarious. Tonight though, Bobby Lee put on the greatest live comedy show I have ever seen. The man is a comedic genius. Before tonight, my favorite comedian i’ve seen at the Improv was Kevin Pollak. Bobby Lee definitely overtook that top spot, Kevin has gracefully fallen to 2nd. Bobby was amazing from the second he got on stage, he knew
exactly how to pump up the crowd pretty quickly. As soon as he got on stage he started screaming and hilariously interacting with the audience.
At one point during the show, there was a lady in the audience using her phone and texting someone. Bobby, distracted by this, asked her to stop texting because its rude while he’s on stage putting on a show, she in turn gave him a bit of an attitude. He continued on with the show. A few minutes later he again saw her texting and asked for her phone, she reluctantly gave it to him. He then proceeded to pull down his pants, expose his underwear, and put the phone in them and rubbed it all around. When he gave it back to her she was so pissed off, she got up and left the showroom. As a token of his gratification for the other people at the table, he picked up that tables tab. This all occurred just as Bobby was preparing to give a man a lap dance on stage. You read that correctly, he was about to give a MAN a lap dance, going by the stripper name Lucy Liu.
Tonight Bobby Lee definitely made my “Top 5″ list of comedians. Louie CK is still at the top and Bobby Lee is now #2. He has such a brilliant delivery of his jokes! I loved how much of crowd interaction he puts into his show. Comedians can not go wrong with crowd interaction, its always a good time. Many times throughout the show, Bobby took off his shirt, let his pants drop to his ankles and gave people “pube shots” as well as “missed” high fives that turned into the person copping a feel of his private area. If thats not genius, i don’t know what is!
Bobby Lee’s credits include Mad TV, Harold & Kumar: A Very 3D Christmas, Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle, Pineapple Express, The League, Family Guy, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and many more! Check out this video below to see what kind of comedic genius Bobby Lee is.
I just watched the Series Premiere of “Alcatraz” which aired this past Monday January 16th. Luckily I have a DVR so I finally had the chance to watch it tonight! Within the first 10 minutes of watching I was hooked! This show is filled with tons of action and drama. It has a lot of twists and turns that you would never even see coming. The story is amazing and keeps you at the edge of your seat the entire time! I’m extremely excited for this series and I can’t wait to see what happens next week!
SYNOPSIS: When San Francisco Police Department DET. REBECCA MADSEN (Sarah Jones) is assigned to a grisly homicide case, a fingerprint leads her to a seemingly impossible suspect: JACK SYLVANE (guest star Jeffrey Pierce), an Alcatraz inmate who died over 30 years ago. Given her family history – both her grandfather and surrogate uncle, RAY ARCHER (Robert Forster), were guards at the prison – Madsen’s interest is immediately piqued. When the enigmatic, knows-everything-but-tells-nothing government agent EMERSON HAUSER (Sam Neill) tries to impede her investigation, she becomes doggedly committed to it.

According to Wikipedia.com, an artist is a person engaged in one or more of any of a broad spectrum of activities related to creating art, practicing the arts and/or demonstrating an art. The common usage in both everydayspeech and academic discourse is a practitioner in the visual arts only. The term is often used in the entertainment business, especially in a business context, for musicians and other performers (less often for actors). “Artiste” (the French for artist) is a variant used in English only in this context. Use of the term to describe writers, for example, is certainly valid, but less common, and mostly restricted to contexts like criticism.
This is a message to all off the emerging artists in the world. Whether your a Filmmaker, Actor, Comedian, Photographer, Graphic Designer, Painter, Writer, Musician, Sculptor, or any other type of artist, you know you love what you do! We are all very passionate about our work and we are always looking for new ways to re-invent ourselves and our work! That’s what makes us so special and unique. We are way too creative to be working 9 – 5 in a cubicle or serving tables or bartending or selling cars or any other job other than being an artist. However, sometimes we have to take on other jobs to pay the bills until we become successful. Unfortunately, this is a tough industry to break into. There are millions of artists out there so success may take some time. Hence the phrase “starving artist.”
However, the internet makes it a lot easier for us to find success. There are tons of websites now where you can upload and sell your work directly from their website. Some examples of these are CafePress.com, Spreadshirt.com, & iTunes! With the help of Social Media it’s becoming easier to get your work seen by a mass audience! Social Media is extremely powerful. In fact, it’s a lot more powerful than most people even realize! If you’re an artist, exposure is the key! You need to have every type of Social Media there is. If you haven’t already now is the time to sign up for Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, Flickr, & Google +! Sign up for all of these websites and tell all of your friends and have them tell their friends. The more people that see your work, the better your chance of success! So many people become famous because they made a YouTube video! Why can’t that be you? Any of us can make a YouTube video! That’s the easy part. The hard part is getting millions of views, but with the right video and the right amount of exposure, it can be done! As an artist you have to promote yourself. Word-of-mouth is amazing and effective but it all starts with you promoting yourself and/or your services. Some people say “my work promotes speaks for itself,” and while that’s true, it doesn’t get seen by a mass audience. You have to advertise and network like crazy!
Don’t ever give up! Quitters are weak, you are strong! You have to keep doing what you love! Life may not be the greatest now while you’re working a full-time job that you probably don’t like but things will get better! It may take a while, but one day you will be making tons of money and you will love your job. Seriously, imagine getting paid for doing something you enjoy. Stay thirsty my friends!

“Tech Support” is a short comedic film about a man who owns a home-based business and is forced to call one of those annoying tech support companies when his computer crashes!
The reason I wrote “Tech Support” was because I think it’s something everyone can relate to! We all at one point in our lives had to call a tech support company when our computer has crashed. We all know that when you call tech support companies a lot of the time it’s in a call center somehow in india where the person has no idea how to fix your computer. Instead they’re just reading troubleshooting tips on a computer screen. Anyone who has ever called a tech support company knows how frustrating it is to wait on hold for ever and than finally get that person who has no idea what they are talking about. This actually happened to me the day I decided to write this film. I had been on hold for about 2o minutes and finally got someone who didn’t know what he was talking about and my computer never got fixed. Basically I took my experience and exaggerated it just a bit to show the humor in it. I truly believe everyone can relate to this film and I hope you enjoy it!
2011 is starting to look pretty good with a few projects lined up and a few underway! I am directing a short film called “There Goes The Neighborhood” written by Jason Gallotti. Rehearsals are this coming Sunday and we will be shooting in about 2 -3 weeks! It’s another short comedy so it should be a lot of fun to shoot! I’m also shooting the “Like Me” Music Video for Stan Da Man in 2 weeks down in Fort Lauderdale, FL! This will be my first shoot using my Canon Rebel T2i to do HD Video and I’m very excited to test it out! After that I got 3 other short films lined up that Jason Gallotti has written! Also, I will be working on the second draft of my latest film that I wrote with my friend Jordan Wapner “:Prefer Not To Say” sometime in the next week! I believe we wrote a really fun screenplay and the second draft will only be that much better! Please “LIKE” our film “:Prefer Not to Say” on Facebook at: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Prefer-Not-To-Say/119827934732531 AND Follow us on twitter at: http://www.twitter.com/PreferNotTooSay … Other then that I’m always looking for new projects so lets get something going!
There’s a hot new show on TV! It has everything from action, drama, excitement, and a hint of comedy! The Chicago Code is an amazing show! The pilot aired on Monday February 7, 2011! This show is all about corruption in the Chicago Police Department. The whole background is that this lady witnessed corruption first hand as the mafia and other gangs forced her father’s store out of business as a little girl. She grew up knowing that she wanted to become a cop and make sure that she did everything she could to prevent that from happening in the future. Not only did she become a cop, she became the superintendent of the Chicago Police Department which is the most powerful cop! She does everything she can to take down the corrupt criminals. I don’t want to give away too much but this show is filled with excitement and it will certainly have you at the edge of your seat wondering what’s going to happen next! The Chicago Code airs Monday nights at 9pm on FOX!
