I started reading this new book called “Do Cool Shit!” It’s for those people who have always had a dream of being successful and owning their own business. The slogan for the book is. “Quit your day job, start your own business, live happily ever after.” This book teaches you how to go about this process and shows you the pros and cons of it all. It’s definitely worth a read if you’re interested in owning your own business.
The countdown is on! It’s official, in less than 2 months I’ll be living in Los Angeles! I can’t wait. I’ll be flying back out in 3 weeks to find an apartment and then shortly after I’ll be moving. I’m really excited and I know that this is definitely a huge step in the right direction. LA, see you soon!
Hey guys! So I know it’s been awhile since I’ve wrote a blog and updated everyone but I’ve been pretty busy lately. I’m currently writing a sitcom for the New York Television Festival (NYTF) with my co-writer Jordan Wapner to submit to FOX. The name of the sitcom is called DC to LA. Unfortunately, at this time I cannot give out anymore information on it but just know that we are working hard and creating some really funny material. Hopefully you all will be watching this show in 2014! We are both moving out to LA in October and pilot season is just right round the corner in January so it’s perfect timing! Here is the OFFICIAL M.L. (My Life) “Rockstar Sushi” Music Video Directed by myself. This video was a lot of fun to shoot. M.L. flew down to Miami for a few days so we could get this shot. We filmed all over Miami including: A Condo in Miami Beach, a boat in the Biscayne bay, Studio shots, Ocean Drive, and other random areas around South Beach. M.L. was cool to work with because he knows exactly what he wants and we collaborated very well together to create this Music Video. You can follow M.L. on twitter @ML4Sure & of course follow me @GaryDunkel. I hope you enjoy the Music Video! Leave me comments and let me know what you think!
My 2 best friends got married this weekend and this is our Harlem Shake video!! Check it out and feel free to send it to your friends!!
Hey guys! Because I am moving to Los Angeles in October, I have been reading as much as I can on Screenwriting. I have learned so much and have applied it to writing “Prefer Not To Say” with Jordan Wapner. I have recently started reading “SCREENPLAY” by Syd Field. This is a really insightful book for any aspiring screenwriter out there. I highly recommend you check it out. It’s amazing how much structure a screenplay really has and this book teaches you exactly how to do it.
I just finished reading the book “Writing Movies For Fun And Profit” written by Robert Ben Garant & Thomas Lennon (Writers of: A Night At The Museum, Reno 911, etc…) This is such an awesome book that’s very informative! Every filmmaker/screenwriter should read this book. Robert Ben Garant & Thomas Lennon are professional studio screenwriters and they have been through it all. They wrote this book to give screenwriters inside information on how to become a successful screenwriter and what it’s like to be negotiating with the big studios. They also tell all of their stories about meetings with celebrities and the process of how their movies were written as well as how their projects got green lit. Overall, it was a very fun book to read and I learned a lot from it. Go to your local Barnes & Noble or go on to Amazon and buy it! You won’t be disappointed!
